What is the impact of european community research programmes ?
This is a difficult question which comes to the fore periodically. To bring new information, the European Commission has undertaken to support specific mailed surveys to participants.
In Fance, this was carried out by the Centre de Sociologie de l’Innovation de l’École des Mines de Paris. The large number of answers received (600) has led to a better knowledge of the participants, their motivations in answering EC calls for proposals, their involvement in such projects and their objectives. They also provide a deeper insight into the collaborations the projects foster and the difficulties participants face.
Finally they offer a more detailed picture of the outputs of projects ant their main outcome for participants. A well-documented book in statistical data and analyses.
